The resort 'ALEXANDER' consists of two buildings of traditional architecture. One building includes standard rooms and one luxury suite. Both overlook to, exceptional beauty, river Haliacmon. Standard rooms are a traditional three-storey building with four rooms furnished in rustic style TV, bathroom and an emphasis on spaciousness, comfort and cleanliness. We try consistently to keep the room service at excellent level. On the ground floor there is a spacious reception room which functions simultaneously as a lounge, bar and restaurant. The exterior of the building has parking, a roof, a balcony that gives guests the opportunity to enjoy the cool summer evening by the river and the scent of blooming gardens. The luxury suites 'ALEXANDER' is a newly built three-storey building with unique architecture, which includes six self-catering suites, 50 square meters each , the combination of traditional and modern style leaves the visitor entirely happy. Equiped with fireplace, Jacuzzi, TV lounge, balcony with view to Haliacmon and all the comforts of searches which a demanding guest wants. Outside there is parking, where visitors can enjoy a coffee while listening to the sounds of nature and barbecue to taste the local products.

Island 117 seamiles from Attica port Piraeus 23 seamiles from Kos 97 qkm [ the whole archipel 114 qkm ] 1113 inhabitants 482 m highest mountain 4 villages [ Astypalaia, Livadi, Maltezana , Vathi ] Until the 19th century, Chora was the only settlement of the contemporary years of Astypalaia. The other settlements which exist today were created in the uncultivated spots of the island. The biggest of these settlements are Livadi and Analypsi or Maltezana, created during the Italian years. Most of the island’s life is concentrated in Chora. Astypalea or Chora This is the capital and port of the island built on a hill protruding into the sea thus forming two bays : the port - Pera Yialos and Livadi Bay. The peak is dominated by the fortress built of dark local stone from which one can see the glowing white domes of the Evangelistria and Aghios Georgios Churches sticking out.Around it are white houses with blue doors and windows and wooden railings on the balconies.Among them are churches and domed chapels. On the saddle of the hill are eight windmills , a unique jewel adorning Hora.Slightly further on is the traditional coffee house and further still is the Town Hall from whence the two main roads which lead up the hill to the Fortress begin.Each leads to a well known church , the Monastery of Panaghia Portaitissa on the Livadi Bay side and the Megali Panaghia Church on the Pera Yialos side. Analipsi or Maltezana A seaside village spread out along a small valley in Exo Nisi with a beautiful sandy beach.The second name Maltezana makes reference to the pirates who pillaged the Aegean and found refuge in the island's sheltered bays.The village hugs the bay with a long jetty at which fishing caiques moor.The orchards and vineyards go right down to the water's edge.Tour boats can take visitors to the island's beaches and the islets of Hondro, Ligno, Aghia Kyriaki, Koutsomytis, Syrna and Kounoupi. Livadi A seaside village spread along a fertile valley on the inlet of the bay with the same name. Livadi is the island's flower garden.The gardens with mandarin trees, orange trees, vines, and houses bedecked in flowers are spread along the entire length of the stream which terminates at a beautiful beach. Vathi Vathi resembles are lagoon. The bay is almost completely closed off with an opening of just 50m.There are two small villages at Vathi : Exo Vathi which is at the mouth of the bay with its small jetty at which caiques moor and Mesa Vathi on the inlet of the bay with fields, a few trees and vineyards. Visitors can reach Vathi by road along a passable dirt track or by boat.There are regular sailings from Vai Bay. Other islets in the area To the southeast are the islets of Hondro , Ligno, Aghia Kyriaki with a church dedicated to that saint , Koutsomytis with its charming beach and Kounoupi. The Boutique Hotel “George Molfetas” The building itself is a work of masonry constructed before 1895, comprising of a main body of 6 large rooms. The walls are still 60 cm thick, the doors and windows feature massive stone framings, the lines are clear-cut and have the same proportions as at the time when they were designed. The only things that have been changed are elements that promote luxury, technology and superstructure. As the project was financed by the European Community funds for the redevelopment of traditional buildings of high environmental value, all care has been placed in the best possible maintenance and re-enforcement of the building itself. All rooms have been fitted with private bathrooms with either baths or jet-showers. The central heating is backed up by wood burners in four of the rooms and air conditioners in all rooms. All furniture is authentic, hand made work of craftsmanship of times ranging from 1790 to 1950. Persian rugs have been brought from the far east from several members of the owners families and Murano chandeliers were brought all the way from Smyrne and Venice. As the previous owner of the local diving center if adventure tourism is your desire we can accomodate hiking tours, horseback riding, scubadiving, mountainbiking, and a 138m bungyjump. For those who want to relax we provide the perfect location just up the road from the main tourist area of Platanias, while you can have a short walk to the 20km beach which is not overwelmed with sunbeds and beach venders. At the swimming pool you can take it easy with some lounge music and a garden setting. Home made specialties using only fresh local produce at local village prices are always available from our Jungle Juice cafe-snack bar. And for the party folks, we have a full bar with a roof garden sea view to begin your night out. On the main road you will find it easy to flag a cab or take a bus to some of the big summer clubs like Mylos and Portokali which are only 5kms away.
