This is a beautiful hand-built log cabin. It is built of large cottonwood logs originating from the banks of the Big Hole river 20 miles from Silver Star. The logs are flattened on two sides with a chainsaw, and dove-tail notches are used on the corners to fit the logs in place. This cabin was hand built by the owner, Chip Ashcraft, who is a custom log cabin builder.This cabin features a common sleeping area on the second floor with 1 king bed, 2 queen beds, and a single bed.The cabin is located 400 feet off the county road nestled in a patch of trees, providing a very peaceful and private setting. The closest neighbors are deer and the occasional moose. It is within 5 minutes walking distance of Silver Star fishing access site on the Jefferson river, just downstream from the famous Big Hole, Beaverhead, and Ruby Rivers. It is about an hour's drive to the Madison river. Our home sits on 2.5 acres of 10 acres of family land that has been in our family for generations. I have two bedrooms, one with custom queen size bunk beds and the master with a queen size bed, walk in closet and a walk in rock shower with a Jacuzzi tub and custom tile art work through out the house. Master bath has a koi pond and a taro patch and the kitchen has pineapples and taro leaves that role down the laundry stairs, front entrance sits a turtle (Hono) to welcome you. I have a big family entertainment room with theater chairs and big screen tv with a sound system that has speakers through out the house and deck, bedrooms all have flat screen tv's. I also have a massage chair that truly makes you feel completely relaxed. It is very quiet and peaceful since we have no neighbors and lots of land with fruit trees (oranges,lemons,limes,tangos,tangerines, mango's, avocados and lots of bananas). Our custom home was built in 2005 by my husband and I built with total love. Our kitchen has top of the line appliances and all stainless steal with all granite counter tops through out the house. We take pride in our home, our yard, our marriage and our life.

Wintergreen Ski Resort is just 30 miles away, another beautiful drive. Much to do and see nearby, yet guests often prefer to remain at the house or explore the grounds. It’s an ideal place to entertain family, friends or business associates, share food and conversation. Breathe pure mountain air, drink clear fresh water from the land’s private spring. Enjoy dazzling sunsets off the west porch. Hear a symphony of crickets serenade a star-filled night sky. The kitchen is newly remodeled and fully equipped. There is a dining room, media room/parlor and living room. Upstairs, the master bedroom has a private bathroom and an adjacent office that can be used as a bedroom or nursery. Down the hall there are two bedrooms, one with a queen bed, and the other with two twin beds. There is a full bathroom between them at the end of the hall. Many of the desks, tables, chairs and beds are heirlooms, made by master craftsmen for the ages and selected for beauty and comfort. Entertainment basics are all on board - Internet, Satellite TV and two large flat screens - Blu-ray players for each.

On Chagnon street, the two storey chalet is fully equiped (BBQ, 2 televisions, DVD, cable. a fireplace on each floor, two complete bathrooms, washer-dryer, dishwasher) and can accommodate up to six people. It is walking distance to restaurants, grocery store, pharmacy etc. Winter activities: cross country and downhill skiing, snow shoeing and skating rink nearby.
